Training for Parenting Educators 

Accrescent Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to sharing BioSocial Cognition through workshops, seminars, and one-on-one training to organizations and individuals.

Below are the Training and Workshops that have been developed and customized specifically for Parenting Educators, Family Support Professionals, Home Visitors, K-12 Educators, and Advocates working with families.

This workshop will introduce an understanding and methodology for determining where behavioral actions come from and how to create an environment that supports positive and productive parenting.
 
Using visuals, animations, real-world examples, and audience participation, this interactive session focuses on how to equip and empower parents to handle the situations they must resolve in their day-to-day lives. Participants will learn how our five senses influence the brain’s choice of memories to be used in determining the youth’s reaction to their environment.
 
Session participants will walk away with an understanding and a process that can be shared with parents for use in their day-to-day lives.

Why do teens make the choices they do? What could they possibly be thinking? How can we guide them into adulthood with the tools they need to lead healthy, productive lives?


In this interactive session, we’ll explore the development, neuroscience, and internal and external factors that impact teen choices and behavior… 

 

So that you can help parents better understand where their teen is coming from, why teens are making the choices they are making.

 

You’ll also gain a methodology to share with parents for cultivating positive, productive communication and relationship with their teens. And a tool for communicating and reaching agreements through the teen years and beyond.

Youth face very real issues when communicating with the adults in their lives. Each wants to be heard and taken seriously, but struggle finding productive ways to communicate.

 

During this interactive session, we’ll identify barriers youth and adults face when communicating, delve into the impact memories, genetics, and development have on behavior and communication, and discuss the opportunity you have to empower productive communication. 

 

You’ll walk away with a process and tool you can immediately use to share and implement with to impact the youth and families you serve.

In this session, we will explore fatherhood as shaped by personal experiences, memories, culture, and past relationships.

 

You will learn why fathers may experience parenting differently and how communication gaps arise.

 

Delve into how these factors uniquely influence a father’s communication style, parenting, and family engagement.

Attendees will walk away with insights they can immediately apply to strengthen communication, build trust, and engage fathers as valued partners - supporting stronger families and positive outcomes for children.

Our Training & Workshops help you as a family support professional or advocate working with families to  expand your understanding of the "why" behind behavior and equip you with additional tools for communicating with parents and strengthening families.

Training and workshops are available in a variety of formats:

 

All sessions are engaging, interactive, and customized specifically to the audience.

 

Durations range from 90 min to half and full day training.  For in-depth training, organizations and individuals may choose multiple sessions delivered over a number of weeks.
