About the Florida FAPA Annual Education Conference

The Florida State Foster Adoptive Parent Association (Florida FAPA) Annual Conference stands as a vital cornerstone for foster and adoptive families across the state, offering a blend of parenting support and education.

The conference agenda is designed to equip kinship caregivers, foster parents, and adoptive parents with practical tools, parenting education, and resources to help them as they navigate the complexities of caring for children impacted by trauma, abuse, and neglect.

By focusing on the nuances of trauma-informed parenting and navigating challenging circumstances, Florida FAPA’s annual parenting conference creates a supportive environment where families gain knowledge and encouragement for their journey.

From the conference website:

This conference promises an inspiring weekend designed specifically for foster and adoptive families. Attendees will benefit from expert training and heartfelt encouragement tailored to their unique journey of caring for children from hard places. This year’s theme, Equipped to Love, reflects our commitment to empowering families with the tools and confidence they need to provide compassionate and effective care for their children.

Teens and their Choices

Saturday, June 14th

10:30am - 11:45am

Teen decision-making can often seem puzzling, but understanding the neuroscience and developmental factors behind their choices can transform the way we guide them.

This interactive session explores BioSocial Cognition, memory formation, and the learning process to help caregivers better understand adolescent behavior.

Through engaging visuals, real-world examples, and practical strategies, participants will gain tools to foster positive communication, recognize individual needs, and support their teens in developing maturity and independence.
