Understanding Behavior using Brain Science: Memories Matter
Specifically for the unique needs and perspective of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and Professionals.
Session Description
Explore how brain science can inform decision-making in cases involving children and youth.
By examining how young brains process information, form memories, and respond to environmental stimuli, you will gain insights into behavioral actions, and be introduced to tools that you can incorporate into judicial recommendations and decisions.

Special attention will be given to understanding the effects of trauma, brain development, and the environment's impact on shaping a child’s behavior and future well-being.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of why memories matter, how early experiences influence behavior, and how the judicial system can support positive outcomes.

You'll gain practical tools and insights that you can integrate into your decision-making processes, helping you make recommendations regarding treatment plans, custody, and rehabilitation.
You'll Learn
- Recognize the role of memory and environmental factors influencing the behavior of youth and how these insights can assist judicial decision-making.

- Understand how both brain development and memories impact a person’s processing of information when making decisions.

- Apply brain science knowledge and BioSocial Cognition tools to inform recommendations in cases involving trauma and behavioral issues.
